We Experiment
We can’t be sure that we’ve found the best solution until we’ve ruled out the ones that fall short. Not every idea makes its way to a prototype. Not every prototype makes its way onto the floor. Only the best ones do. At Matrix, we know we will try some things that just won’t work. If we succeed every time, we’re aiming too low.
We Succeed

Rower
We knew that rowing had evolved in the 20 years since the launch of our original stationary rower, moving into circuits, cardio floors, specialized rowing classes and elite athletic training facilities. It was up to our design team to create a rower that served all these different activities without compromise.
S-Drive Performance Trainer
We started developing our S-Drive Performance Trainer when we discovered that circuit training and athletic performance environments were looking for the same thing — a tool to help users take on the 30-second all-out sprints of HIIT. Despite the success we’d had co-developing indoor cycles in the past, we knew in our hearts that we could do better. When an update to our collection of cardio equipment gave us a chance to explore all an LED console could — and should — be, we grabbed ahold of the possibility. But how could we create a more engaging display with little more than bright dots and a few buttons?

To make personal training more personal, we wanted a system that let trainers and members do it their way, with their favorite apps, devices and wearables at the center of it all. Today, Engage 360 let trainers interact with members 24/7 by assigning workouts, charting progress, checking nutrition, observing activities and more, redefining what personal training means and can do.
